Some of the world’s top bowlers are the star attractions in the inaugural UMS Kota Kinabalu International Open 10-Pin bowling tournament at CPS Bowl in Kota Kinabalu from Aug 26-31.
T
he tournament, organised in conjunction with the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS)’s 20th Anniversary celebration, will see the participation of 13-time pro champion Mika Koivuneimi of Finland; four-time AMF World Cup champion Paeng Nepomuceno and 2006 Asian Games Masters gold medallist Biboy Rivera of the Philippines; World Championships triple gold medallists Wang Yu-ling of Taiwan; Singapore’s World Cup champion Jasmine Yeong-Nathan; and Malaysia’s very own World Championships singles gold medallist Jacqueline Sijore.
To underline the world class entries, the organisers are also offering an impressive RM240,850 total prize money. There will also be additional prizes, which includes motorcycles and bicycles.
To add more value to the tournament, two bowling clinics will be conducted. One by Koiveneimi on the profession and being a bowling mentor; and the other by Taiwanese Zheng Chao-sheng specially for spinners.
